It is with deep grief that the Musical Workshop Labyrinth announces the passing of our beloved oud teacher Giorgos Mavromanolakis.
His untimely death leaves a huge empty space in the hearts of all of us here which we can never expect to replenish. He was a very gentle and generous soul who was much loved by all of his students as well as by all of his colleagues and by music lovers wherever he went. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and many friends.
The seminar for oud for beginners will however take place as scheduled, although under the guidance of Taxiarchis Georgoulis, one of the finest young oud virtuosi of our time and a dedicated instructor of the highest calibre.

Scores are given?: Yes, but it is not necessary to know music writing in order to learn the songs/ participate. (The teacher can send songs for practising before the seminar)
Level of Participants: All Levels are welcome
This seminar will focus on exercises of the oud playing technique, body position and fingering position as well as on analysis of the system of makam and the way it works on the oud. Melodies from Greece and East Mediterranean will be studied with the help of scores for those who wish to use them.
Yorgos Mavromanolakis (Mavros), at an early age attended the Greek Conservatory of Heraklion and he subsequently began to study traditional instruments.
