The lavta seminar will focus on technique as well as on aspects of the old and new repertoire which Periklis Pqpqpetropoulos has greatly helped to develop.
The Lavta is an instrument which, despite preceding the oud in Ottoman music, disappeared entirely at the beginning of the 20th century. During the last 25 years however, in both Greece and Turkey, much interest has been expressed for this very versatile and beautiful instrument. Especially in Greece today there are many lavta players of whom the foremost exponents are without doubt Periklis Papapetropoulos and Sokratis Sinopoulos. These two young masters frequently give concerts with two lavtas in which one can easily discern the different approaches of the one and the other as well as the very harmonious collaboration between them.
Necessary level for the participation:
• Medium knowledge level
• Basic level of modal systems
• Knowledge of music writing
As a member of “Labyrinth” Periklis Papapetropoulos, participated in concerts, recordings and television productions in Greece and abroad.
