In this course we will dive deeper into North Indian Raga music in the Kheyal style, by looking at Vilambit Ektaal, which is a long and slow unfolding of a rhythmic cycle which has 48 sub-beats likened to an epic, which enables one to improvise from different laya (tempo) perspectives.

Eléonore Billy ( Swedish Nyckelharpa) and Kelly Thoma (Cretan Lyra) have been playing music together for the past 16 years in the ensemble Tokso (together with Anne Hytta and Sigrun Eng) , an innovative ensemble comprised of four women composers from France, Greece and Norway. Their focus is on an innovative approach to the traditions which have been their source of inspiration, through new compositions and improvisations.
